Raptors sign 2017 No. 1 pick Fultz to 10-day contract
During his brief stint with the Sacramento Kings, Fultz struggled to carve out a consistent role in a crowded rotation. He averaged 2.7 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in just 8.8 minutes per game across 21 appearances. While these statistics may appear modest, the context of his usage rate and limited playing time must be considered. Sacramento’s offensive scheme did not fully align with his traditional playmaking strengths, leading many analysts to believe that his true potential remains untapped if he is placed in the right system with the proper developmental support.
Before receiving this call-up to the main roster, Fultz spent time refining his craft with the Raptors 905, the organization’s G League affiliate. His performance in the developmental league has been encouraging, as he showcased the vision and poise that originally made him a standout prospect. In six games—all of which he started—Fultz averaged 9.8 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.5 rebounds over 22.2 minutes per game. This stretch of consistent basketball has clearly impressed Toronto’s coaching staff, proving that he has maintained his conditioning and tactical awareness despite his recent time away from the NBA court.
